States under Disaster management Act can postpone college exams in view of pandemic. Supreme court said on Friday. SC also rules that final year examination for college/univ students have to be held as no state can promote final year students without final examination as ordered by UGC. SC said states can consult UGC to fix date for holding final examination at a date convenient and suitable in view of the pandemic. This means UGC’s September 30 is not mandatory for states to adhere to. They can fix dates beyond September 30 for holding final exams.
