A sub-inspector died in Gomati district hospital allegedly without treatment. Serious allegations of dereliction of duty and death of patients without treatment have been raised against the doctors and health workers of Gomati District Hospital.
Anger and tense situation was created in Gomati district hospital premises on Friday due to the incident.
The daughter-in-law of the deceased sub-inspector pointed fingers at the health services of the district hospital.
Gauranga Debbarma (58), a resident of Udaipur Police Line area, was working at Raisyabari Police Station. He fell seriously ill at his home on Friday. Immediately the family members took him to Gomati District Hospital.
Daughter-in-law of Gauranga Debbarma complained that Gauranga Debbarma was brought to the hospital in a critical condition, but they did not receive any services. The doctor was not seen. Again and again they rushed to doctors and health workers. But hospital doctors and health workers allegedly harassed them in the name of providing services.
Family members alleged that finally a health worker came and administered saline to Gauranga Debbbarma. Gauranga Debarma fell to his death after the saline.
The family members blamed the doctors and health workers of the hospital for the death of Gauranga Debbarma.
From main referral hospitals to district and sub-divisional hospitals in the state the condition is very weak.
Demands have been made to form an inquiry committee to look into the incident so that such incidents do not repeat anymore.
