Sugar has not been allocated to the maximum poor under the public distribution system in Tripura for the last one and half months. “I am forced to buy sugar from market at Rs 50 per kg since it is not available at ration shops,” said Surabala Saha (60), a below the poverty line (BPL) resident of Pratapgarh Surendra Palli Agartala. Ranajoy Saha a ration dealer of AD Nagar said the state government has not supplied sugar for the last month. Not only the BPL families but also the maximum beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) have not got sugar in the state since last one and half month.
