There is still no affective action by the state administration on African swine flu. Pork is continue to sale in different areas throughout the state.
There are reports of swine flu infection in different areas.
However pig culling begins from Friday in East Ramchandraghat area of Khowai due to outbreak of African Swine Flu.
All the pigs of a farm in East Ramchandraghat Panchayat including all the pigs within one kilometer distance will be killed.
This decision was taken in a meeting held at the office of Deputy Director of District Animal Resource Development Department in East Ramchandraghat on Thursday.
Deputy Director Pran Gopal Das along with state level officials and veterinarians of the department were present in the meeting.
Panchayat Samiti officials along with various panchayat chiefs, deputy chiefs were also present in the meeting.
Pig culling starts from Jamirapara of West Sonatala Panchayat, Batapura of East Ramchandraghat and Nandipara of North Ramchandraghat.

Rabindra Dash’s farm of Ramchandraghat, Khowai identified as the center of swine fever. Despite being repeatedly informed about it, the department did not take any initiative.
In the meeting, it is decided that the pig farmers will get compensation of Rs two thousand two hundred for killing a pig weighing fifteen kg, Rs five thousand eight hundred for killing a pig up to forty kg and Rs fifteen thousand for killing a pig weighing one hundred kg.
It is known that the pig farmers have expressed strong objection to this compensation. Pig farmers demand increase in damages.
They said that if the department took timely action, they would not have to face such a huge loss today.
