The situation in Kanchanpur turned tense again following a procession organized under the banner of the United Co-ordination Committee demanding rehabilitation of the Reang refugees in the sub-division. The procession mostly attended by the Reang and Chakma Janajatis also demanded withdrawal of Mizoram Police camp from the Tripura-Mizoram border and reestablishment of the Shiv Temple in the top of the Bhelianchip in Jampui Hills. The new turn of the event caused tension in the town and the local administration also was in alerts over the issue and the North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakrborty was personally present in the town to oversee the developments. They submitted a memorandum to the Sub-divisional Magistrate and subsequently gathered in the ISBT complex where the leaders delivered speech in support of their demand. They also demanded adequate compensation for the family members of Ranjit Das and Pintu Lal Chakma.
