During 2018 to 2022, 200 tigers have increased in the country. PM Modi, who reached Mysore in Karnataka on the completion of 50 years of Project Tiger, said that the population of tigers in the country has increased to 3 thousand 167. In 2018, this number was 2 thousand 967.
Earlier, Modi reached Bandipur Tiger Reserve at 8.30 am on Sunday. Appeared in new look with T-shirt, trouser, jacket, hat, black glasses and camera.
PM did about 20 km long jungle safari in Bandipur Tiger Reserve in an open jeep. After this, he reached Theppakadu Elephant Park in Mudumalai National Park bordering Karnataka and fed sugarcane to the elephants.
This is the same national park where the Oscar winning short documentary ‘The Elephant Whispers’ was shot. The PM also met elephant Raghu, who was seen in the film, and Bomman and Bailey, who raised him.
On the occasion of completion of 50 years of Project Tiger, the Prime Minister released new figures related to Tiger. Apart from this, a coin was also issued.
The Prime Minister also launched the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).
The organization will focus on conserving the seven big cat species around the world: tiger, lion, snow leopard, leopard, puma, jaguar and cheetah.
On 1 November 2016, PM Modi went to Naya Raipur on Chhattisgarh Foundation Day. Here he inaugurated Nandanvan, Asia’s largest man made jungle safari. When he went on safari, he himself handled the camera and also clicked the photo of a tiger. Meanwhile, CM Raman Singh had clicked Modi’s photo, which went viral.

At the same time, the Karnataka Congress shared the picture of Indira Gandhi and wrote – ‘What has the Congress done in 70 years’. It was the Congress government which implemented the Bandipur Tiger Conservation Project in 1973, where you are enjoying the safari today.
