On Monday, a delegation of the Tripura Mahila Sangram Parishad went to the Police Headquarters and placed a deputation regarding crime against women.
“The police investigate the incident of crime against women and arrest the accused, but they are not punished properly” said the women organization.
The delegation of the organization demanded strict punishment by holding the police responsible for this.
It has been alleged by the organization that the cases are not being received in the proper manner and the police are not investigating the cases properly. Naturally, when these cases come up for trial in the courts, the cases are not taken up in the proper manner and the criminals are getting release due to lack of proper investigation.
“In order to stop criminal activities against women, the accused must be punished properly. So that the accused cannot go beyond the reach of the law in any way, the police should take up the case in proper legal terms and submit the charge sheet to the court after proper investigation of the case” said the organization.
“Otherwise, no matter how much effort is made, it will be difficult to stop the trend of crimes against women including rape and murder of women in the state. Police officers should be made more aware of legal provisions” Said the delegates.
