Toshakhana Case: Former PM Of Pakistan Imran Khan Arrested

Former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan was arrested on Saturday (August 5) from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

The arrest took place after a trial court in Islamabad convicted him in the Toshakhana case and sentenced him to 3 years in prison.

The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has sentenced Imran Khan to three years in jail. Imran Khan has a chance to appeal against this sentence in higher courts.

Imran Khan’s lawyers have reached the Supreme Court. The trial court judge issued an arrest warrant against former PM Imran Khan after he was convicted in the Toshakhana case.

After this order, Imran Khan has been arrested from his house in Zaman Park, Lahore.

Preparations are being made to take him from Lahore to Islamabad. Imran Khan has also been disqualified from contesting elections for 5 years after being sentenced to three years.

Khan is accused of abusing his position as prime minister during 2018 to 2022 and using his power to buy and sell government gifts.

These gifts were received by Imran Khan during his foreign trips and were worth more than 140 million rupees ($635,000).

After this, the trial court, after hearing, found Imran Khan guilty of hiding property and selling government gifts.

However, Imran Khan’s lawyers had already accused the trial court judge Dilawar Humayun of being biased.

In such a situation, there is a possibility of increasing ruckus in Pakistan once again.

Even before this, on March 9, Imran Khan was arrested from inside the Islamabad High Court in a corruption case.

Then there was tremendous violence by Imran Khan’s supporters all over Pakistan.

A supporter of Imran Khan said that the decision of an Islamabad court to sentence Imran Khan to three years in a political case (Toshakhana Case) is highly condemnable. There is no evidence. Very biased decision. The courts in Pakistan are working under immense pressure from the powerful military.
