Tripura: 3 Convicts Gets Rigorous Imprisonment For Minor Girl Rape Incidents

The Tripura court has sentenced of rigorous imprisonment to three accused to twenty, ten and three years respectively in two separate incidents of kidnapping and raping minors.

At the same time, court also ordered financial penalty. West Tripura District Court Special Judge (POCSO) Sharmistha Mukherjee announced the sentence in both the cases on Wednesday.

The first incident happened on June 10, 2020 at 11:30 AM in Chowmuhani area of ​​Agartala. A 17-year-old schoolgirl was going to a private tutor’s house. At that time the accused Debbrata Das and Biki Das kidnapped the girl and took her to the house of accused Debbrata Das in Teliyamura. There, Devabrata raped the girl.

June 16 after six days In 2020, Teliamura police rescued the student.

Investigating officer Swapna Das completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet against accused Debbrata Das alias Bura (24) under Section 366(A)/376 of IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act and against another accused Biki Das (22) under Section 366 and 34 of IPC.

Testimony of nine people was taken in the case. After the hearing of the case, on Wednesday, the court sentenced the accused Debbrata Das to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and 2 months imprisonment without paying a fine of 20,000 taka. The other accused Biki Das was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees

Anaday ordered 1 month of detention. Special PP Pulak Kumar Debnath handled the case on behalf of the government.

Meanwhile, the other incident happened on November 15, 2021.

A 14-year-old girl student of Phatikchara Upper Primary School was going to school at ten o’clock on that morning. Then accused Motilal Sarkar abducted the girl from Tikendramura road of Phatikchara tea garden and raped her in the nearby forest.

Then the accused took the student to her relative’s house in Bilonia and raped her by force again at night.

The next day i.e. November 16, the accused Motilal Sarkar sent the girl by a small car from Bilonia to come to Agartala.

But at the request of the minor student the car driver took him to Bilonia police station. On November 19, the minor’s brother filed a case at Lefunga police station.

After the investigation, investigating officer Divjyoti Majumdar submitted the charge sheet in the court on January 9, 2022.

The testimony of 8 people was taken during the hearing.

After the hearing, the court on Wednesday found the accused Motilal Sarkar (father Indrajit Sarkar) guilty under Sections 366, 342, 376(3) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the POCSO Act and sentenced him to 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of 30,000 rupees.
