On the first day of the Asian Masters Athletics Championship in Philippine , master athletes of Tripura who participated for the country had an eye-catching performance.
Two women master athletes from the state presented one gold and two silver medals to the country from this international event.
Mitali Debnath, the state’s female athlete in the fifty-fifty age group, won the gold medal in the 1500m race and also won the silver medal in the 800m race.
Besides, Archana Banik, another female athlete from the state, won a silver medal in long jump in fifty-four years age group.
However, some of the remaining master athletes of the state did not win medals even though they took to the track that day.
All of them Mitali performed well. All in all, the entire Indian team gave a surprise on the first day of this International Masters Athletics Championship.
The 22nd Masters Athletics Championship began on Wednesday at the New Clark City Stadium in Capas, Philippines.
About 2000 masters athletes from 28 countries participated in it. A huge Indian team has also gone to participate in it.
Among them there are eleven of Tripuea. This is the first time Such a large number of Masters athletes are from any state Participated in international event.
Seven people from Tripura competed on the first day Wednesday. This competition will continue till November.
