Counting of votes has started for the by-elections held on two assembly seats were held on September 5 in Tripura .
Counting of votes begins at 8 AM on Friday.
By-elections were held in Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats of Sepahijala district.
On an average, 86.50 per cent polling was recorded in both the seats. The opposition Left party and Congress has alleged that there was large-scale rigging during the voting.
Left Front convenor Narayan Kar alleged that as soon as the voting started, we informed the Election Commission about rigging.
Despite this, the Commission did not take any strict action to stop the elections.
Let us tell you, CPIM demanded from the Election Commission to conduct fresh voting but the Commission rejected this demand.
Narayan said that if the objective of the Commission is clear then what is the use of participating in the counting of votes to be held on September 8. That’s why we have announced boycott of counting of votes.
The by-elections in the Boxanagar constituency was necessitated after the death of CPI(M) MLA Samsul Haque.
At the same time, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik resigned from Dhanpur seat, due to which the by-election was held there on Tuesday.
BJP’s Tafazzal Hussain is pitted against CPIM’s Mizan Hussain in Boxnagar seat. A total of 43,087 voters will decide the fate of the candidates here.
Besides, Dhanpur Assembly constituency, considered a stronghold of the Left, is witnessing a fight between BJP’s Bindu Debnath and CPIM’s Kaushik Debnath.
Dhanpur has 50,346 voters, who will decide the fate of the candidates.
Let us tell you, Tipra Motha and Congress did not field their candidates on both the seats.
Bindu Debnath, the candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party, won from the Dhanpur by 15,744 votes.
BJP-25463 votes, CPIM 9719 votes.
