A three-member delegation of the National Election Commission arrived in Tripura on Monday to review all the preparations for the by-elections in the two assembly constituencies of the state.
The delegation, led by Commission chief Sasim Arvind Anand, consists of a secretary and a section officer.
They arrived in the state at 3 pm on Monday From the airport, they went straight to Sepahijla District Collector’s office. Held a review meeting with all concerned officers starting from the state electoral officer in the conference hall of the District Collector’s office.
In particular they reviewed various issues such as maintaining law and order on polling day, conducting polls smoothly and peacefully, security of all polling stations etc.
The meeting lasted till evening. There are a total of 110 booths in the two assembly constituencies.
The Commission has taken appropriate measures to ensure peaceful completion of polling at each booth.
Fifteen companies consist of TSR, State Police besides the Central Security Forces will be there.
Every booth will have web casting facility. In short, all the preparations have been finalized.
Notably by-election in two assembly constituencies respectively Boxanagar and Dhanpur is going to be held on September 5 and the results to be announced on September 8.
