The Election Commission has taken steps to maintain law and order in the two by-elections to be held in the state.
Sepahijala District Election Officer ordered to seal India-Bangladesh border as an advance warning.
The commission informed that these guidelines will remain in force till the end of polling. Voting will be held on the occasion of by-elections in Boxnagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies of Sepahijla district on September 5.
At that time, the decision of SEAL was informed by the commission to prevent incidents like intrusion on the India-Bangladesh border.
A directive in this regard has reached the Sepahijala district administration on behalf of the commission.
The guidelines issued by the District Magistrate and the District Election Office said that the India-Bangladesh border will remain sealed from 7 am on September 3 till the end of polling on September 5.
Meanwhile, the political parties are actively campaigning for the by-elections of the two centres. The battle between the Left-Congress and the BJP is in the limelight. Campaign to end on September 3.
43 thousand 87 voters in Boxnagar and 50 thousand 147 voters in Dhanpur constituency will exercise their voting rights.
Not only Tripura, but a total of six states including West Bengal will hold by-elections on the same day.
