On multiple allegations of corruption, keeping Panchayat Secretary, GRS and RPM inside the office house, a club namely ‘Latugau Palli Unyanya Yuva Sangh’ locked the office.
The incident took place in Lalchhara Panchayat of Dharmanagar sub-division of north tripura district on Tuesday around 12 noon.
The club members alleged that the Panchayat representative of Ward No. 6 Kwaz Mian along with Panchayat RPM Keshab Dhar has looted the money allotted for the improvement of dilapidated roads for the development of the people but has not done any work.
Also, money has been allocated for the construction of a new paved toilet in Lalchara Panchayat office, but in the same manner, the old toilet has been renovated a little and the new paved tank has not been constructed.
The club members claim that no action has been taken even though complaints have been made in detail about this issue many times.
In this incident, Abdul Khaliq, the representative of Lalchara Panchayat Ward No. 1, admitted that there is corruption in the work of the Panchayat.
Meanwhile, the protesting club members claim that if the BDO of Juvrajnagar block does not appear in person and investigate the complaints, they will continue their panchayat siege movement.
Abhijit Das, BDO of Juvrajnagar block, rushed to the spot after the panchayat office remained locked for about three and a half hours, i.e. around four in the afternoon.
He came and opened the lock of the Panchayat office and talked with everyone and listened to the details.
After talking to everyone present in the area, he said that he is now aware of this problem. Very soon all the problems will be resolved and the work will start.
After getting the assurance of BDO, when the members of the local club withdrew the movement, all the officials of the panchayat were released.
