Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the drug free Tripura workshop and blood donation camp organized by the state wing of NSS at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan on Wednesday.
Speaking in the program he said:
“Our boys and girls are not lacking in sports and education. NSS volunteers have to take the responsibility of keeping the society in order”
“The NSS scheme was launched in 1969 on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Mental and physical development of the students included in this project. They are very different from common people. They are responsible for society and country”.
The youth play the biggest role in building the country. Therefore, the Chief Minister expressed the opinion that the students belonging to NSS will play a special role in building the country in the coming days.
Addressing the students, the Chief Minister said that there is no alternative to blood. There can be no greater gift than giving blood to the body of a demented patient.
The Chief Minister called upon the students to play a major role in the blood donation camp in the coming days. While discussing this day, the Chief Minister expressed his concern about drugs.
Bringing up the topic, he said that good and talented boys and girls are being wasted. He said the volunteers of the National Service Scheme have to take a huge responsibility so that no one gets addicted.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to rise up against addiction. More and more awareness programs should be undertaken on drug addiction in the coming days.
The Chief Minister said on this day, After Assam, Tripura has the highest number of drug seizures. Drug paraphernalia is being sold in shops in front of the school. The police should catch the owner of that shop and arrest the original mastermind. The police administration has been instructed for this. People suffering from addiction are victims. The main culprits are those selling drugs. Therefore strict action has been ordered against them.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, secretary of the department and other officials were also present in the program .
Students from different schools participated in the program. The Chief Minister visited blood donation camps and encouraged blood donors.
