Along with the entire country the 106th birth anniversary of the country’s first woman Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi was celebrated with due dignity by the initiative of the Tripura State Congress .
MLA Gopal Chandra Roy hoisted the national flag in the presence of AICC General Secretary Szarita Lightphlang and one of the permanent members of the Congress Working Committee, MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
The party flag was hoisted by former MLA State Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Youth Congress flag was hoisted by Nil Kamal Saha, NSUI flag was hoisted by Swarup Shil, Seva Dal flag was hoisted by Nitya Gopal Rudrapal, Mahila Congress flag was hoisted by Mrs. Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty.
Apart from this, President Ashish Kumar Saha along with Mrs Laithphalang, Sudip Roy Barman, Gopal Chandra Roy, State Congress Spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty, State Congress General Secretary Prashanta Sen Chowdhury and other leaders also offered wreaths at the portrait of Indira Gandhi.
Later, leaders and activists of the party paid tribute to the martyr at Gandhi Ghat. After that, everyone, including the leaders, planted trees in the Gandhi Ghat and related areas. On this day, party leaders along with party workers from all over the state participated in tree planting programs in addition to celebrating programs at party offices on the occasion of Solidarity Day.
Also, fruit sweets were distributed among the patients in Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital and Khowi Sub-Divisional Hospital and fruit sweets were distributed among the residents of Pabiachara Orphanage.
