August 9 is the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. Congress party is holding various programs across the country on the occasion of International Adivasi Day.
As a part of that, various three-day programs have been undertaken in Tripura also by the state Congress.
As part of this three-day program, a discussion meeting was held on Wednesday at Muktdhara Auditorium in the capital Agartala.
Tripura Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and others were present there.
Ashish Kumar Saha said the National Congress has started a country-wide tribal pride program. As part of that, the Adivasi Mahasabha has been organized by the initiative of the Tripura Pradsh Congress. The representatives of all tribal people groups has been honored in this tribal meeting.
On the other hand a rally was organized on Wednesday by the Tripura Pradsh Congress Committee calling upon all to come forward to protest against the ‘incidents of gross humiliation of the entire human civilization taking place in Manipur’.
The rally started from the Muktdhara Auditorium premises . The rally traveled various routes in the city. The rally was attended by MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other leaders of the Pradesh Congress. MLA Roy Burman said the media that a lot of tests have been done. The people remained where they were. The touch of underdevelopment is all over the country. Realizing this, people are flocking to the Congress.
MLA Sudip Roy Barman claimed that development of tribals is not possible without National Congress. The people of the state have also realized that a lot has happened. Now people have no faith in other parties.
Sudip Roy Barman also said that Manipur is burning, the prime minister has no time to talk about it. He is busy campaigning for elections. Today, the government is being reminded through this rally to take steps to restore peace in Manipur.
