In support of the three controversial agricultural laws brought by the Modi government at the Center, Tripura Pradesh Congress celebrates 31 October (saturday) as’ Farmers’ Rights Day ‘. The special thing is that 31 October is also the death anniversary of the first woman PM Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of the country. This was a part of the nationwide program of Congress Earliar, Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal said that “on October 31, party leaders and workers in all the states will perform ‘Satyagraha’ at the district headquarters between 10 am and 4 pm in protest against the Center’s Agricultural Acts. During the ‘Satyagraha’, party leaders will underline the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Patel’s contribution to the rights of farmers, especially in the context of the Bardoli farmer movement. During this Satyagraha, discussions will also be held on the introduction of ‘Green Revolution’ undertaken by former PM Indira Gandhi to make the country self-reliant in the field of agriculture and the common people will be made aware of their contributions”. Congress-ruled state governments are trying to bring new laws to reject the central agricultural laws. The Punjab Assembly has already passed a bill regarding this and CM Amarinder Singh has sought time to meet the President along with the state legislators to urge the President to reject the law passed by the Assembly.
