The National Congress has decided to observe the birthday of late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as Sanhati Diwas (Solidarity Day). Similarly, the Tripura Pradesh Congress will observe the whole state as Solidarity Day.
“In the present situation, the significance of observing Solidarity Day is huge” Party spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty said this in a press conference at the state Congress office on Friday.
“There is a terrible trend going on in the name of war all over the world. Efforts are being made to divide people through bigotry, narrow-mindedness and corruption in the country. In this situation, AICC has called for celebrating the birthday of late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as a day of solidarity” said Chakraborty.
Indira Gandhi’s 106th birthday will be celebrated on November 19. Plantation program will be held by the Congress activists.
On this day, Congress raised allegations of corruption in various departments of the state government.
