The CPIM Tripura State Secretariat has strongly condemned the allegedly physical assault led by local leaders on Bapan Nandi of Udaipur sub-division Khupilong, a talented artist and popular social media vlogger of the state, for making video content on communal harmony.
In a press statement CPIM State Secretariat mentioned:
“Through this incident it shows, the RSS branch organizations, under the umbrella of the BJP in the state of Tripura as well as in the Hindi region are active in politics of violence and division based on caste-caste-religion”
“This incident is also a big blow to the independence and creativity of the artists. An FIR should be taken against those involved in the incident on a spontaneous basis by the police administration”.
“The CPIM state Secretariat hopes that all well-intentioned citizens and civil society of the state will speak out against this incident”.
Notably Making A Video On Eid Became A Burden For A Hindu Youth, Due To Which He Was Beaten Up Badly.
This Case Is From Tripura Where A 23-Year-Old Vlogger Bapan Nandi From Khupilong Area Was Thrashed For Posting A Video And A Song Describing Eid As A Festival Promoting Communal Harmony.
In This Video, Nandi’s Message Angered Panchayat Vice President Anu Mura Singh And Other Leaders.
Local Leaders Allegedly Called Nandi To The Police Line Bazar Area And Then Attacked Him.
In The Video Of The Incident Which Gone Viral In the Social Media, A Woman Leader Can Be Seen Ripping Nandi’s Shirt, Holding Him By The Collar And Allegedly Thrashing Him, Questioning Why He Should Disguise Himself As A Muslim Youth Instead Of Embracing His Hindu Origins.
After The Attack, The Leaders Lodged A Complaint Against Nandi At The Local Police Station. Following The Complaint, The Police Have Called Nandi For Questioning.
