A crude bomb exploded near a school building in Sepahijala district, Tripura on Wednesday, injuring a school-going child.
The state police has started investigating the matter. According to the report, a 15-year-old student was injured when a crude bomb exploded near a school building in the state of Tripura.
The incident took place on Wednesday in Kalsimura village of Tripura’s Sipahijala district.
A police officer said that the incident took place when some students of Kalasimura School were playing in an open area located next to their school building.
Taful Islam, a Class 9 student of Kalasimura School, saw an unclaimed packet while defecating in an open field near the school.
According to Sepahijala Superintendent of Police BJ Reddy, when he tried to open the package, it exploded, injuring him.
“A bomb disposal squad reached the spot and defused the four bombs kept in the packet. The squad believes that the packet contained five low-intensity crude bombs. Forensic team and experts are investigating the incident along with the police.” said Reddy.
School authorities sent Taiful Islam to Sonamura Hospital, from where he was referred to Agartala Government Hospital and Medical College for better medical care.
As per reports, he is currently undergoing treatment for burns and other injuries due to the crude bomb blast.
