Like every year, the 24th Martyrdom Day of Tapan Chakraborty was observed by the Democratic Youth Federation of India, Tripura Unit at Chhatra Yuva Bhavan, Headquarter of DYFI, in Melarmath Agartala.
The president of the organization, Palash Bhowmik, said that:
” Tapan Chakraborty was the leading leader of the youth movement in Tripura”
” On August 31, 2000, the youth leader Tapan Chakraborty was killed by communal miscreants on his way back from the Sampriti Sabha (meeting) in Shantinagar under Khowai district”
” Tapan Chakraborty was Vice President of DYFI Tripura State Committee and also the Vice Chairman of Kalyanpur Panchayat Samiti”.
” To destroy the communal harmony miscreants killed Tapan Chakraborty on that time. Because Tapan Chakraborty was very much active to maintain peace tranquility and communal harmony between tribal and non tribal especially in Khowai district”
” Even today also the communal conspirators are active not only in Tripura but in the entire country changing name and identity”
” They are trying to establish politics of dividation in Tripura. We the leftist youths and student organizations will resist it”
