On April 13, several policemen including Sub Inspector Moushumi Debbarma of East Agattala Women Police Station allegedly mentally tortured the government employee Prabir Lodh a resident of Agartala, West Tripura District in the name of interrogation without taking any case.
Later, lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee urged to police to release him from the police station or produce the case to court. But even then the police did not let go of Praveer Lodh and allegedly verbally abused and mentally torture him.
His wife and lawyer Ranak Dey were taken out of the police station. Then when the lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee called and asked the woman officer, she told that the next day at 11 am the woman who complained against prabir will be called to the police station and the matter will be settled.
Then the lawyer told that the court had not given the police the right to settle between the two parties. So it is asked to send the case to the court.
After some time, Prabir Lodh was released from the police station, but the next morning, Prabir Lodh went to the toilet and committed suicide. Then the police took a case after 11 minutes i.e. at 8:15.
“The police have exposed their weakness registering case against the deceased” said Lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee.
A case was filed with the police station on Sunday afternoon against the accused female police officer and the woman who complained of molestation against Pradip.
The family of the deceased and lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee demanded the dismissal and strict punishment of the female police officer.
” A petition against Moushumi Debbarma, sub-inspector of East Agartala Women Police Station, is going to be filed in the Tripura High Court next week” added the lawyer.
“The accused woman police officer should be suspended and punished severely. And a judicial investigation will be demanded”, said lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee.
