Written complaints has been lodged with the police station against the secretaries of three village panchayats on charges of corruption under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) Scheme.
According to the report there are more who involved in this case besides the Panchayat Secretaries.
According to the report although there is rule to distribute government houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana free of cost, but these government houses have been distributed in various village panchayat areas under Gaurnagar block of Kailashahar in exchange of money.
There have been serious allegations that the Panchayat authorities have given the houses in exchange of money.
Many people complained in writing to the District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar.
Widespread corruption has been reported in distribution of government houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Srinathpur under Gaurnagar block.
Later, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar directed BDO Rameshwar Chakraborty of Gaurnagar block to file written case with the police station.
On receiving the instructions of the District Magistrate, BDO Rameshwar Chakraborty of Gaurnagar Block filed written case against Srinathpur Gram Panchayat Secretary Hossain Uddin, Tilabazar Gram Panchayat Secretary Ranjit Kumar Deb at Irani Police Station and Lakshipur Gram Panchayat Secretary Abdul Goffer at Kailasahar Police Station.
In this regard, Jatindra Das, OC of Irani police station, told reporters that although a government house was allotted to Kamala Begum, a resident of Srinathpur Gram Panchayat under Gaurnagar block, under the Prime Minister Housing Scheme, after demanding cash from Kamala Begum, the house was not given to Kamala Begum as she refused to pay the money. The panchayat authorities gave that house to another person in the village in exchange of money.
In addition to this, money has been demanded from the six residents of Tilabazar Village Panchayat area namely Sirajul Islam, Abul Qayyum, Mayroon Bibi, Askar Ali, Nazrul Ali and Sirajul Islam after allotment of houses undr PMAY Scheme.
Similarly, Chaya Das, Ratish Das, Abdul Rafiq, Meena Begum and Nesharun Bibi residents of Lakshipur Gram Panchayat, refused to pay after they were allotted government houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. So the Lakshipur village panchayat authorities give it to others in the village in exchange for money.
As a result, BDO Rameshwar Chakraborty of Gaurnagar Block filed a written case against Lakshipur Gram Panchayat Secretary Abdul Goffer at Kailasahar Police Station.
