Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said that Tripura has constituted STF to deal with criminals.
He said the STF would have state-wide jurisdiction and would function under the Crime Branch of Tripura Police with a Superintendent of Police as its head.
Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, said in a Facebook post that a special task force has been constituted against organized criminal groups, criminal syndicates, extortion gangs and other such crimes.
He mentioned that:
A Special Task Force (STF) having pan-Tripura jurisdiction has been formed in the Tripura Police Crime Branch headed by the Superintendent of Police (Economic Offences), with objective to take focused action against organized criminal groups, criminal syndicates, extortion gangs and such other crime.
The state government’s decision to set up the STF comes within days of Saha meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
