Tripura Govt To Provide Spices Powder Through PDS System

Tripura government decides to provide spices powder through public distribution system, informed food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat he also said:

“The State Government has undertaken multi-pronged programs to strengthen the public distribution system. For this purpose, from May 16, spice powder packets of Chilli, Turmeric, Cumin and Coriander will be delivered at a subsidized price to every home through a total of 2,050 government fair price shops in the state. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the program organized on this occasion at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan on May 16 at 11 am”.


“In this program, the Chief Minister will hand over the powdered spices to 8 consumers of 8 districts of the state.  The Minister of Food, Population and Consumer Affairs Sushant Chowdhury presided over the preparatory meeting.



“The state government has taken the initiative to deliver new products to every consumer’s home in the state through the public distribution system. To further strengthen the public distribution system, packaged powdered spices will be provided to consumers at subsidized prices through government fair shops.
The aim of the government is to deliver more essential commodities to the people of the state at subsidized rates. Packed spice powders of Chilli, Turmeric, Cumin and Coriander from Longtrai Powdered Spices will be offered through Fair Price Shops. The supplyer organization has been quoted through tender”

 The Food Minister said that there are over 9 lakh ration card holders in the state. These 4 spice powders will be delivered to consumers at subsidized prices through a total of 2050 fair price shops in the state. From mustard oil to other new products, efforts have been made to ensure that people do not have to buy at high prices.
