Tripura Govt Urged Durga Puja Organizers For ‘Drug- Free-Campaign’

According to the statistics Tripura now ranks highest in seizures and destruction of illegal drugs across northeast India.

But still drugs spreads into the grass root level even students of school an colleges are become drug addicted.

Now in Durga Puja celebrations, the Tripura government appealed to all puja organisers to take active part in the ‘drug-free campaign’ and make people aware of it through placards, street dramas, hoardings etc.

The state government has also launched an app on which the puja organisers can upload the photos of their pandals showcasing the awareness against drugs.

“We will honour the first three rank holders with financial assistance and certificates. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will honour them,” said Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy

Earlier this year, the Chief Minister had said that Tripura has turned into a major corridor for drug trade. The route used for the trade includes different northeast states and even Bangladesh.

On the other hand former CM and CPIM Polit Bureau member alleged that drug business is going on in Tripura in a planned manner.
