The husband hacked his sleeping wife to death late at night. However, it was possible to catch the murderer husband within 12 hours due to police action.
The brutal incident in Lambuchhara of Kamalpur sub-division under Dhalai district on Saturday has caused a stir in the public mind.
Manika Debvarma (29), a resident of Lambuchhara Srirampur area under Kamalpur police station, was found in her bed in a bloody condition.
On Saturday morning, her children woke up and saw their mother lying on the bed in a bloody condition and they informed the neighbors.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s husband Anil Debbarma (45) could not be traced.
Neighbors took the woman to Kamalpur Bimal Sinha Memorial Hospital. But, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
On receiving the information, the police rushed to the hospital and sent the dead body for post-mortem.
The police investigation led by Kamalpur sub-divisional police officer Shankar Chandra Das managed to arrest the accused husband Anil Debbarma.
Police said that Anil has confessed that he killed his wife.
