Opposition party Left Front announced the list of candidates for the by-elections of 20 Boxanagar and 23 Dhanpur assembly constituencies to be held on September 5.
Left Front convener Narayan Kar announced the list of candidates in a press conference at Dasaratha Deb Smriti Bhavan on Sunday.
He said that democracy and constitution are currently affected in the country. The Narendra Modi-led government is taking away the rights of independent organizations like the Election Commission by passing laws in an autocratic manner in Parliament. A terrible situation has been established in the entire country during the tenure of this government.
“People’s lives are in dire straits today because of the present government protecting corporate interests. The country is heading towards a dictatorial regime. The same situation is prevailing in the state. Party offices are not being allowed to open in Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly constituencies till now after 2023 assembly elections” said Kar.
In this situation, Mizan Hossain will fight from 20 Boxnagar assembly constituency. Mizan Hossain is the third child of late MLA Shamsul Haque. He is the CPIM leader of Sonamura sub division committee.
And in 23 Dhanpur assembly constituency, CPIM candidate is Kaushik Chanda, the winner of the previous assembly election.
Kaushik Chandra’s father was a victim of political terrorism.
Kar said that two candidates will fight against the ruling party this time.
Nomination papers will be submitted in the two centers on August 16.
Left front demanded security measures through this press conference to the election commissioner and related departments.
“We demanding Central paramilitary forces for the entire election to secure citizens’ votes and polling stations” said Left Front Tripura state committee.
Left Front also appealed to the opposition parties from the press conference today to come and fight on one platform to defeat the BJP without dividing votes.
“This government is not able to come close to the promises made in 2018 and 2023. The government has completely failed. From the remote areas of this country to the secretariat, the only loot is going on. Apart from the Chief Minister, the people’s representatives are mired in extreme corruption. Taking away people’s rights. And under this government, the Mandal is the owner of the final judgment. And everything is going on under the leadership of Mandal” alleged Narayan Kar.
