Tripura Moving Forward In The Path Of Development: CM In NITI Aayog Meeting

“Tripura government has released a vision document titled ‘Lakshya-2047’ on January 21, 2022, on the occasion of Statehood Day, 2022, outlining the overall development of the state till 2047. The State Government is providing assistance to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in food processing, rubber, tea, bamboo based industries, handicrafts, cotton and horticultural crops for industrial development in the state. Because development of MSME sector is helping to expand trade with Bangladesh In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that with the inspiration and efficient leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura will move forward in the path of development in the coming days” 

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while addressing the NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi on Saturday. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting.


In the meeting of Niti Aayog, the Chief Minister also said that assistance such as capital subsidy, low-cost power etc. is also being provided to the said MSMEs under ‘Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIIPIS) 2022’. To make Tripura a hub of agar trade within the country and tap into an agar economy worth Tk 2000 crore by 2025, the state government has released the ‘Tripura Agarwood Policy-2021’. 

He said The State Government is committed to run a development-oriented administration aimed at increasing investment and creating employment opportunities. The government has already taken several steps to attract private investment in manufacturing industries. It is for that purpose that the State Government has taken measures to approve investment proposals received through the ‘Swagat’ portal in a ‘single window system’. This portal offers 60 services from 17 departments to speed up various business approvals.


The Chief Minister said that the state government has increased its capital expenditure from Rs 835.00 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 2200 crore in 2022-23 i.e. an annual growth of 62 per cent. On the eve of the North-East Global Investments Summit-2023, the state government along with DONER ministry held a round table conference to explore investment opportunities in the state. As a result of this conference, MOUs worth Rs 338.00 crore were signed with domestic and international investors. The state government has also taken initiatives such as demarcation of 2 thousand acres of land for industrial development, PPP scheme, establishment of special financial zones, and Asian Development Bank has also agreed to provide loans for the development of 15 industrial towns in the state. The state government has reduced the VAT on aviation turbine fuel by 1 percent for the convenience of air travelers.

In the Niti Aayog meeting, the Chief Minister said that the state government has given subsidy of Rs. 14 crore annually to encourage air services between Agartala-Ch. In the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2020 report, Tripura has been included in the progressive category in the field of business and ranked highly in terms of business facilitation. The ‘Tripura Industries (Facilitation) Act 2018’ has been enacted to provide legislative support to the Government’s Ease of Doing Business policy. Likewise efforts have been made to provide timely services through ‘The Tripura Guaranteed Services to Citizens Act 2020’. 

The Chief Minister said that the state has formulated ‘Tripura State Policy 2022 for Women Empowerment’ It has taken various steps to empower women in the state he said 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs in the state. A women- battalion has been formed in the Tripura State Rifles. The Chief Minister said that the state government is giving importance to the formation of self-help groups with women in order to stabilize women financially and encourage them to invest. 

He said 4,16,292 women from rural poor sections are associated with 46,475 women self-help groups, 1,950 village organizations and 88 cluster level federations (CLFs). 401.90 crore as Revolving Fund (RF) and Community Investment Fund (CIF) to meet the requirements of women self-help groups by these institutions. In addition, Tk 724.92 crore has been given as a loan from the bank to women self-help groups so that they can participate in various vocational activities. In order to stabilize women financially and encourage them to invest, the state government is giving importance to the formation of Self Help Groups of women.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has been working tirelessly to improve the health of orphans, children and mothers, boost their immunity, ensure safe delivery, reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases and reduce the rate of anaemia. 

He said that the state government has launched a new scheme called Chief Minister’s Matra Pusthiin Gigaral in which every pregnant woman is being given Rs 500 in four installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The state government is also implementing the Pradhan Mantri Meth Pusthi Vandana Yojana to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women for the birth of their first child and to look after other aspects of their health. 

The chief minister said that the aim of ensuring that children get enough nutritious food is being monitored through the Chief Minister’s Poshan Abhiyan.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is extensively promoting ‘Vocal for Local’ policy to develop and preserve local skills and traditions. This policy is being widely promoted with the aim of taking empowerment initiatives using local resources for local development. 

The Chief Minister said that a ‘Skill Gap Study’ has been conducted in the state to identify the jobs or professions that are in demand in the state industries.


The survey was conducted on industries dependent on all natural resources available in the state In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the state government has taken a comprehensive plan to make the state more attractive to tourists. That’s why an investment proposal of 1 thousand crore rupees has been kept To this end, plans have been made to provide tourist accommodation, develop infrastructure at tourist centers and create adequate human resources to develop improved communication systems throughout the state. The state government has taken the initiative to launch ‘Tripura Medical Tourism Policy’ to develop Tripura as a medical centric wellness tourism center by developing infrastructure like Ayurvedic Parks, P’karma Centres, Yoga Exercise & Wellness Centres, Naturopathy Centres.


The Chief Minister said that the state has been marked as a ‘first mover’ state in implementing the PM Gati Shakti scheme. In this project, 8 projects worth 109.19 crores have been identified and sent to the Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India for funding. Out of this, 35 crore rupees have been received from the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India for 4 projects. The Tripura Integrated Logistics Policy-2022 has been prepared and promulgated on 16 January 2023.
