National Workshop on e-Procurement was held on March 27 at the India Habitat Center in New Delhi, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Power and Information Technology, Government of India. In the workshop, Tripura was awarded for best performance among North Eastern states in implementation of e-procurement.
Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy informed about this in a press conference organized in State Civil Secretariat on Wednesday.
He said that e-procurement brings transparency in government transactions. E-procurement system helps small and medium industrialists in procurement. In particular, sellers of government goods and services have no scope for tax evasion. Sellers from any part of the country can participate. So the state government has emphasized on transparency in administration.
He further informed that the State Government’s success in implementing e-payment for all transactions except regular pension of Tripura State Retired Government Servants has been appreciated in the State Finance Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the financial year 2021-22.
The said report mentions that 80.13 percent of the total transactions are done through e-payments. The finance minister also said that the tax collection is gradually increasing by 15 percent every financial year. The Minister believes that this will be useful for the development of the country and the state.
Finance Minister Roy said that the total capital expenditure in the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 2,374 crore. Which was Rs 1423 crore in last year 2021-22.
He said that the collection of various own taxes of the state in the current financial year has been Rs 3000.38 Cr.
