After being closed for three years, the two ‘border huts’ of Tripura on the India-Bangladesh border are reopening.

After a recent meeting between Feni and South Tripura district officials, a decision has been taken to reopen the East Madhugram (Bangladesh)-Srinagar (South Tripura) haat, a top official of the Tripura Industries and Commerce Department said. Border haat will start from May 9.
According to the report the management committee of the two countries closed the market for an indefinite period in March 2020 due to the corona pandemic.
This haat is important for business, in addition to selling products, meetings of the people of two side is also being held.
Especially the poor people of the Indo-Bangladesh border area were continued their livelihood centering the market.
Being closed for three years, they are facing difficulties in life.
Now they are happy with the news that the market is finally reopening.
“We are happy that the haat to reopen. We can now sell our local products” said Jahangir Alam a small businessman from Srinagar South Tripura District.
