Tripura, The Human Trafficking Corridor: WC Chairperson

“Tripura is being used as a human trafficking corridor” expressing concern about it Chairperson of Tripura Women Commission, Barnali Goswami seeks the cooperation of voluntary organizations and the administration to stop human trafficking.

A seminar on prevention of human trafficking was held at the Agartala Press Club on Tuesday under the initiative of the State Women’s Commission and the National Women’s Commission. 

Apart from police and general administration officials from West Tripura District, Mayor Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder and Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarkar were present in that seminar.

Various aspects were discussed in the seminar aimed at stopping human trafficking.

State Women’s Commission Chairperson Barnali Goswami said that trafficking of women and children has increased in Tripura. Only four human trafficking cases have been filed so far. But beyond that there are multiple cases of human trafficking. Tripura is being used as a corridor for human trafficking, she said, expressing concern.

She sought the cooperation of various voluntary organizations and administrations to deal with this situation.
