Two persons has been arrested by the RPF police while traveling from Agartala to Guwahati with a large amount of gold ornaments.
It is known that the special drive of police is going on for three months. As a part of this, officers of GRP, RPF, TSR, BSF and other branches conducted a raid at Badharghat rail station, Agartala on Thursday.
A large amount of gold ornaments has been recovered from the bags of two persons while checking the luggage of passengers at the station.
These two passengers were going to Guwahati by train from Agartala. One of them is from Silchar and the other is from Gujarat.
As the police suspects , the custom was informed. Even they showed the documents of the gold ornaments , the customs were informed to look into the matter.
Later they were handed over to the customs.
Seven and half kg gold ornaments were recovered from the two passengers. GRP official Sanjit Sen said that the market value of the gold is Rs 4.5 million. They came to the state on September 17. Basically they travel different states and sell these gold ornaments.
Due to this they came in Tripura. Customs will verify of this gold ornament. After that the police will take the further legal action.
