Due to the negligence of the Kailasahar Police Station under Unakoti district of Tripura and lack of responsibility on the part of the senior officials of the District Police, the undertrial accused escaped from the police station lock-up.
Senior police officials, including Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jangir, have launched a search operation for the undertrial accused.
On Sunday evening, the incident caused intense panic in the subdivision.
According to the report Ashab Ali, son of Terai Miah a resident of Lakshipur village panchayat of Kailashahar, was arrested by the police of Kailashahar police station early on Saturday from his home.
Based on the written complaint of a youth of Lakshipur village panchayat, the police arrested Ashab Ali in the early hours of Saturday and brought him to the Kailasahar police station.
Police brought Ashab Ali from the court to Kailashahar police station on Saturday night after the court ordered him to be sent to police remand for three days.
Ashab Ali spent the whole Saturday night and the whole day Sunday in the lock-up of Kailasahar police station, but on Sunday evening he escaped from the police station by unlocking the lock-up due to the negligence of the police of Kailasahar police station.
The police on duty did not understand anything. According to police sources, around 5:30 pm, the police on duty took Ashab Ali out for natural work and again put Ashab Ali in the lock-up and the policeman left without locking the lock-up properly.
