The prices of vegetables shot up further last week, raising woes of the commoners who are already battered with skyrocketing prices of potato, onion and other essentials. In a market survey Tripura Post recorded a 25-40 per cent hike in vegetable prices in a week. Due to no regulatory and control of government in wholesale market, retail vegetables price scorching common people. Farmers and cultivaters also in loss as they are bound to sale veggies to the wholesalers in very low price due to no regulatory or control of government. Prices of brinjal, cucumber, bitter gourd, snake gourd, pointed gourd, ridge gourd, sponge gourd, okra, clocacia stems and long-yard bean rose by Rs30-Rs 40 a kg as sold at Rs 689-120 a kg on sunday. Green chilli prices further spiralled to Tk 240-300 a kg on sunday a Rs 50-60 hike per kg in a week. Prices of 20 types of vegetables like bitter gourd, snake gourd, pointed gourd, sponge gourd, bottle gourd and brinjal witnessed a 30-40 per cent hike in a week. According to the buyers vegetable prices have witnessed an 80-110 per cent hike in the last 45 days.
