Tripura High Court frame charge against IAS Shailesh Kr Yadav in the case of ‘action in wedding halls in Agartala during Covid time on April 26, 2021’ when he was the DM of West Tripura District.
The court directed him on Thursday to file replay within 10 days.
Notably Yadav came into limelight when he forcibly stopped a marriage under the enforcement of COVID-19 rules at Palace Compound area in Agartala on April 26,2021.
Yadav is accused of allegedly misbehaving with the baratis, groom and pandit of the wedding ceremony in Agartala. This video of him went viral in social media.
Following the incident, the Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report on the incident and a committee of two IAS officers was constituted to probe the matter.
In the initial investigation, Yadav had apologised. He told the committee that he had enforced law and order as per his duty to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
During the departmental inquiry in the matter, Yadav was relieved of his post on his own request.
