Indian gymnastics’ poster girl Dipa Karmakar has been banned for 2 years for anti-doping rules violation.
The first information came in March this year itself when the International Gymnast Federation suspended her status.
At that time, many discussions came to the fore regarding this suspension.
It is said that there is a case of indiscipline or violation of the code of conduct.
Or it can also be a matter of anti-doping violets. Although the Gymnastics Federation of India and the National Anti-Doping Agency have also kept silence on this issue.
But it has been confirmed in the media report that Deepa Karmakar has been banned for 2 years.
TOI report states that Dipa Karmakar is facing suspension since 2021 and this happened after the World Anti-Doping Agency found her violating the rules.
Although the Gymnast Federation of India has not given any response on this.
If reports are to be believed, the Sports Authority of India and NADA are accusing her coach Nandi, who has been training Deepa since childhood.
It is alleged that it was because of Nandi that the Padma Shri, Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awardee gymnast had to fail in front of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The Sports Authority of India has pulled back on the suspension of Deepa Karmakar and says that Nandi is responsible.
NADA has also accused Nandi of ending Deepa Karmakar’s career and has also spoken of action.
SAI claimed they are not liable for Nandi’s mistake as she is employed with Tripura state sports department.
So question raising on Tripura Sports Department also.
As per sources, NADA wants to take action within its jurisdiction against Nandi for putting Dipa’s career on the line.
In the past, the anti-doping body athletics coach Mickey Menzes for four years for giving banned substance to his trainee Kirti Bhoite, who is currently serving a two-year ban.
