Defying all speculations in the 2023 assembly elections, the BJP IPFT alliance led by Prof Dr Manik Saha returned to power in Tripura for the second time with majority mark of 31.
The left Congress alliance on one side and the rise of the Janjati-based political party Tipra Motha on the other side pushed back these two main opponents and the people of Tripura put their trust in the BJP for the second time.
According to the experts, the women voters of this state played an important role behind the establishment of the second BJP IPFT coalition government under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Manik Saha.
Wherever the Chief Minister goes for campaigning during the pre-election period or during the election campaign, the enthusiasm is several times higher among women than men and the attendance rate was also higher among women than men.
That’s when Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha commented that women will play an important role in this election. Looking at the results, it can be seen that his predictions have come true.
Near about 90 percent vote casting recorded in this Assembly Elections in Tripura, where number of women voters were much more then men.
That’s when the practice started among the political parties, women are going to play a decisive role in the outcome of this election.
Undoubtedly, women’s votes have goes in favor of the BJP-IPFT alliance this time.
The number of women self-help groups has increased manifold under the patronage of the government. Increase in salary of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs, 50 percent reservation for women in government business stalls, provision of education for women up to graduate level at government expenses, increasing the number of women police stations with a focus on women’s safety were the factors.
Apart from these, political analysts speculate that the ‘Mahila Swashaktikaran Scheme’ aimed at the overall development of women in the financial year 2022-23 has attracted women to the BJP.
Government data shows that women have benefited the most from these decisions of the state government, giving away the dealership of government fair price shops to women, increasing the social allowance to Rs 2,000 during the previous BJP-IPFT coalition government.
The ‘Sankalpa Patra’ released by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2023 Assembly elections also mentions specific plans for the overall development of women.
Among these, the announcement of giving a certificate of Rs 50,000 immediately after the birth of a girl child attracted the most women.
Political analysts speculate that these issues have gained a huge response among women, so their votes went in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Experts are now saying that the Modi-Manik Saha-led BJP alliance has won this election by relying on the support of women.
