“YouTube, Meta Spreading Hate”: INDIA Bloc Calls For ‘Neutrality’ Through Latter

INDIA, the coalition of opposition parties, has written a letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

The letter has been shared by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on social media. In this, many important things have been said quoting media reports.

It says that Meta, Alphabet and especially YouTube are guilty of promoting social disharmony and inciting communal hatred in India.

The ‘India’ alliance of 28 political parties has accused WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube of helping the ruling BJP in its communal hate campaign.

The coalition partners have also accused the opposition leaders of suppressing their views. In a strongly worded letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the group of 28 political parties alleged that the social media platform is guilty of promoting social disharmony and inciting communal hatred in India.

The letter said that we have information, which proves algorithmic moderation and suppression of content of opposition leaders on your platform and also promotion of content of the ruling party.

The letter said that such partisan action by a private foreign company amounts to interference in India’s democracy.

Since the Lok Sabha elections are to be held in 2024, we make a serious and urgent appeal to you to seriously consider these facts and immediately ensure that the operation of MET in India remains neutral.
