10 Bangladeshi Minor Detainees Flee From Narsingarh Center

West Tripura’s Narsingarh Detention Center was rocked on the night of Saptami as 10 Bangladeshi minors managed to flee the facility, creating tension in the area.

All of the missing detainees were lodged at the center in connection with various criminal cases.

According to the sources, the minors escaped under cover of darkness by exploiting weaknesses in the security fencing.

Shockingly, officials of the detention center have so far refrained from giving any statement regarding the incident, fuelling allegations of serious administrative negligence.

The escape comes at a time when authorities are already under pressure, as the recent case of prisoner escape from Dharmanagar sub-jail remains unresolved.

The fresh incident has further embarrassed the administration, raising questions over the state of security in correctional facilities.

Meanwhile, demands have been mounting from several side for strict punitive action against the detention center staff responsible for the lapse.
