11000 FIRs. 500 Arrested in Manipur: PM Modi in Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday responded to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha. During this, he spoke on many burning issues.

He put forth his views in the House on issues ranging from NEET paper leak to the assault on a woman in Bengal. During this, he also spoke openly on the Manipur violence.

PM Modi said that the government is making every effort to normalize the situation in Manipur. Incidents of violence are constantly decreasing there. Schools and colleges are open in Manipur too. Just like exams have been held in the rest of the country, exams have been held in Manipur too. In most parts of Manipur, schools, colleges are running, offices and other institutions are opening like normal days.

The central government is trying to open the way for harmony by talking to everyone. Small groups are being talked to. This never happened in the previous governments.

He said that Home Minister Amit Shah has gone to Manipur and he has stayed there for several days. The Minister of State for Home Affairs has also stayed there for weeks. Many officials are also going there continuously. Two teams of NDRF have reached there today. Efforts are being made to maintain peace there.

PM Modi said that I had talked about Manipur in detail in the last session as well. I want to reiterate that the government is constantly trying to normalise the situation in Manipur. 11000 FIRs have been filed in connection with the incidents that have happened there and more than 500 arrests have been made. It also has to be accepted that the incidents of violence in Manipur are decreasing. This means that it is becoming possible to hope for peace and trust in peace.

PM Modi said that whatever elements are trying to add fuel to the fire in Manipur, I want to warn them to stop such activities, a time will come when Manipur itself will reject them. Those who know Manipur, its history, know that there has been a long history of conflict there. Congress people should not forget that due to these circumstances, President's rule had to be imposed 10 times in this small state. This has not happened during our tenure. There must be some reason. In 1993, there was a similar period of violence. We will have to move ahead by understanding all this history. Whoever wants to cooperate in this, we are ready to take everyone's support.

Modi said that this is an unusual incident after six decades of Indian democracy. Some people are deliberately turning their backs, some people are creating a ruckus about how to blackout this decision of the people of the country.

He said that I have been seeing for some days that defeat is being accepted even if it is with a heavy heart.

PM Modi said that we have seen farming in a comprehensive form. Farmers and fishermen have got the benefit of Kisan Credit Card. The farming work of farmers has been strengthened. Earlier, an attempt was made to mislead the farmers.

He said that there was so much hue and cry over the loan waiver of Rs. 7000 crores. We started the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana and 10 crore farmers have benefited from it. The government has given Rs. 3 lakh crores to farmers in six years.

Let us tell you that earlier on Tuesday, while speaking on the President's address in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi had targeted the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi by calling him a childish person and the Congress a parasite. He had said that this is the third consecutive time that the Congress party has not been able to cross the 100 mark.

He also retaliated to Rahul Gandhi's statement on Hindus and said that is this your behavior with the Hindus of this country?

PM Modi had targeted the opposition and said that the lies of these people cast doubt on the prudence of the citizens of our country. Their lies are a shameless act of slapping the common prudence of the country. These acts are a slap on the great traditions of the country
