140 Crore Indians Wish: PM Modi To The Indian Team Participating In Paralympics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished the Indian contingent participating in the Paris Paralympics. 

He said that the courage and determination of each athlete is a source of inspiration for the entire country. The Paris Paralympics will begin with a colourful opening ceremony on Wednesday. 

PM Modi wrote on Twitter, '140 crore Indians wish the Indian team participating in the Paris Paralympics. The courage and determination of each athlete is a source of inspiration for the entire country. Everyone is striving for their success.' More than four thousand para athletes are participating in the Paris Paralympics. All these players will compete in 22 sports for 11 days. 

India's 84-member team will participate in the Paris Paralympics, in which 95 officials have also gone with them. This includes personal coaches and assistants accompanying the players in view of their special needs. In this way, a total of 179 members are included in the Indian team. Out of these 95 officials, 77 are team officials, nine team medical officers and nine other team officials.

India won a record 19 medals including five gold at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021 and was ranked 24th in the overall ranking. Three years later, India's target is to take the number of gold medals to double digits and win more than 25 medals in total. India is participating in 12 sports this time, while in Tokyo the 54-member team participated in nine sports
