2 Day Visit: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan Arrives in Tripura

Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Agartala on Saturday for a two-day official visit to Tripura, during which he is scheduled to participate in a series of significant programmes across the state on Sunday.

The Vice President landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, where he was accorded a warm reception by Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, and Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with senior officials and dignitaries.

Later in the evening, a formal dinner was hosted in his honour at Raj Bhavan Agartala.

According to the official itinerary, the Vice President will commence his engagements on Sunday, March 8, by visiting the Albert Ekka War Memorial in Agartala, where he will pay floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Subsequently, he will travel to Udaipur, Tripura to offer prayers at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the most prominent religious and historical landmarks of the state.

Returning to Agartala later in the day, the Vice President will attend the 14th Convocation Ceremony of Tripura University as the chief guest, where he is expected to address graduating students and faculty members.

In the afternoon, he will visit the International Fair Ground at Hapania to interact with members of Self-Help Groups and the beneficiaries of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative. During the visit, he will also tour various stalls set up by women’s groups showcasing local products and entrepreneurial ventures.

Upon concluding his scheduled engagements, the Vice President will depart for New Delhi later in the evening by a special aircraft.

C. P. Radhakrishnan began his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of sixteen and later became actively involved with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. A prominent leader from Tamil Nadu, he was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha from Coimbatore in 1998 and again in 1999.

Over the years, he has served as Governor of several states, including Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Puducherry. Since September 2025, he has been serving as the 15th Vice President of India.

Observers believe that the Vice President’s visit, which combines religious, educational, and cultural engagements, will add special significance to Tripura’s academic and socio-cultural landscape.
