3rd Phase of LS Polls: Only 9% Women. 244 Candidates Have Criminal Cases

According to the report, a total of 1352 candidates are in the fray in the third phase, out of which only 123 (9%) are women candidates. 

At the same time, cases of 38 candidates are related to crimes against women. There are cases of hate speech against 17 candidates.

All this information has come out in the affidavits of all the candidates going to contest in the third phase. These affidavits have been analyzed by ADR and The National Election Watch.

The report also said there is variation in the number of people with criminal cases across major political parties. The figures that have come now are the candidates of major parties like BJP, Congress and Samajwadi Party.

The assets of the top 3 rich candidates of the third phase are more than Rs 1300 crore.
According to the ADR report, 392 i.e. 29% candidates are millionaires. In this the average asset per candidate is Rs 5.66 crore. 

The top 3 millionaire candidates have declared their assets to be more than several hundred crores. The assets of all three are more than Rs 1361 crore.

The qualification of 639 i.e. 47% candidates is between 5th to 12th. Whereas 591 i.e. 44 percent candidates are graduate or higher educated.

411 i.e. 30% of the candidates are in the age group of 25-40 years. The age of 712 i.e. 53% candidates is 41 to 60 years.

Voting in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections is on 7th May.
