The Department of Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs organized an exchange of views with those involved in the public distribution system on Thursday.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present as the chief guest in the meeting.
While discussing the exchange of views today, Minister Chowdhury said that the government will make efforts so that ration dealers can run their business smoothly with their families.
"The matter of the APL Commission is under the attention of the department. If there is an opportunity in the coming days, it will be done. The matter will be discussed with the central government, the Chief Minister and the Finance Department. A meeting will be held with the officials of the department immediately to resolve the problem of salt supply. However, the ration dealers will have to see to it that the consumers collect salt from the ration. The department never deliberately compromises on the quality of ration items. The price of pulses has increased compared to before. Still, pulses are being given in ration at a lower price than the market price," said Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
