BJP may soon announce the name of the new national president. According to news agency ANI, BJP is considering 6 names for the new president, these include Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Manohar Lal Khattar, Bhupendra Yadav and Dharmendra Pradhan. At the same time, BJP General Secretaries Sunil Bansal and Vinod Tawde are also said to be in the race.
According to party sources, BJP is keeping in mind three main things for choosing the national president- organizational experience, regional balance, caste equation. Soon a central election committee may be formed for the election of the national president. If the need arises for election, then this committee will complete the process of nomination, scrutiny and voting.
JP Nadda's term as national president ends in June 2024. He is on extension. At the same time, he is also a minister in the central government, due to which the BJP is preparing to elect a new president soon.
According to the party constitution, the national president is elected only after the state presidents are elected in 50% of the states. At present, BJP has 37 recognized state units. Presidents have been elected in 26 of these states.
BJP elected new state presidents in 9 states in the first 2 days of July. After this, the picture of the election of the national president has become clear. The party elected state presidents in 9 states (Himachal, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Daman Diu and Ladakh) on 1-2 July.
According to the party rules, the tenure of the BJP president is 3 years. A person cannot become the party president more than twice. In such a situation, now the new party president will have to conduct 12 important elections during his tenure.
