65 Shops, Houses Vandalized, Looted In Clash Between Two Communities In Kadamtala: Officials

65 shops and houses has been vandalized and looted in a clash between two communities in Kadamtala market under Dharmanagar Subdivision of North Tripura District.

Sub-divisional administration has come forward to help the victims. 20 people have been given symbolic financial assistance of five thousand rupees. Assistance will also be provided to other victims in phases. 

The police administration has been able to arrest eight people involved in this incident so far.


The tension between the two communities reached an extreme over collection of donations in the Kadamtala market area. This resulted in brutal incidents like vandalism, looting and arson. The situation is currently prevailing in the area. Strict security measures have been taken as per section 163 of the new law. 

All shops in Kadamtala area are closed and CRPF and TSR forces have been deployed around. 

Tripura Government Secretary Finance Brijesh Pandey and Secretary Revenue Abhishek Singh visited Kadamtala on Tuesday।

They visited the Kadamtala area and observed the situation. Also, the Assam-Tripura gate has been kept closed in Jherjheri area, where some people are crossing on foot.

Addressing reporters, North District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan and Secretary Finance Brijes Pandey expressed their views on the situation. Chief Minister Manik Saha also reacted to the incident last night, and he promised to take further action soon.
