7 Died. 183 Shalter Home: Flood Situation Worsening In Tripura.

Worsening the flood situation at least seven people, including three members of a family, died kand two villagers missing in landslides triggered by incessant rains in Tripura.
Revenue Department Secretary Brijesh Pandey said that five people have died in South Tripura district, while one person each has died in Gomati and Khowai districts.
He said two missing cases were reported from Khowai and Gomati districts.
Heavy rains in the state since Sunday have led to waterlogging in many areas including capital Agartala .
Following the Met department's warning of moderate to heavy rains, a red alert has been sounded in South Tripura district while an orange alert has been issued for the remaining seven districts of the northeastern state, the official said.
He said in a press conference on Tuesday evening, 'There has been heavy rain in the state in the last 48 hours, which has caused landslides in many areas and thousands of people have become homeless. At present, 5607 families badly affected by the rain have taken shelter in 183 relief camps. Relief is being provided to the affected people.'
Three members of a family died when a house collapsed due to a massive landslide at Debipur in South Tripura district on Monday night, Shantirbazar District Magistrate (SDM) Abhedananda Baidya informed The Tripurapost.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Binay Bhushan Das said 52-year-old Maui Reang died in a landslide in Karbook area of Gomati district on Monday, while another villager went missing.
On August 19, a 14-year-old boy was killed when a mound of mud fell on his house in Champalai area of Khowai district, a police official said.
Details of two other deaths and one missing person were not immediately available.
Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday directed the district administration to give priority to public safety and take appropriate steps to mitigate the impact of the natural disaster.
The Chief Minister returned from Delhi on Tuesday evening and immediately held meeting to review the latest flood situation of the state.
Several low-lying areas in Shantirbazar subdivision are inundated due to heavy rains. Mahuri and Lawang rivers are flowing above the danger mark and four relief camps were set up to help the flood-affected people.
On the other side, river Howrah, Dhalai, Khowai of West Tripura, Dhalai and Khowai districts respectively also flowing above the danger level.
