AIDS On Rise In Tripura: High Court Issues Notice To The State Govt

Acting chairman of  Tripura State Legal Service Authority Justice T Amarnath Gaur has written a letter to Chief Justice  of Tripura High Court Aparesh Kumar Singh  about the increasing incidence of AIDS among school and college students. 

Besides, various facts on the rise of AIDS are also highlighted. 

On the basis of that letter, considering the importance of the matter, the Tripura High Court took up the case Suo moto. Public Prosecutor Kohinoor Narayan Bhattacharya accepted the notice. 

Government lawyer Kohinoor Narayan Bhattacharya said, yesterday, the division bench of Tripura High Court Chief Justice Apresh Kumar Singh and Justice Arindam Lodh raised the case against the state government's education and health department, the central government's health ministry and the National AIDS Control Society, how AIDS and drug addiction spreading among the students. They wanted to know what steps have been taken so far to prevent escalation. 

The state government will have to respond to the court notice within the next two weeks
